Social Services
The social services department provides services for families who are adopting internationally or domestically and works with other social service agencies to ensure our adoption clients get exactly what they need to complete the process. In addition to providing technical expertise with homestudies, state and federal guidelines, and foreign country requirements; we also offer preparation classes for parents (also called parent education) through our social services department.
We have several social workers contracted to work exclusively with clients who are in need of a home study for adoption purposes regardless of whether or not you are a client of A Helping Hand. Our social workers specialize in adoption work and have a wealth of experience to help prepare you for the adoption experience. They are very thorough and professional yet maintain a high level of compassion for families going through the arduous process of adoption. The following is a list of services being delivered by our social services department:
- Placing or Homestudy services for international and domestic adoptions
- Home study reports for Kentucky clients that meet state, BCIS (US Immigration), and foreign government standards
- Review of home study for non-Kentucky residents to ensure foreign government standards are met
- Updates and update reviews for any homestudy update
- Court reports for families finalizing a readoption
- Special Needs assesment
- Services for Americans in China adopting a chinese child
- Advocates for families with their local BCIS office
- Coordinates post-adoption reporting
- Provides resource for post-adoption services
Social service providers play a critical role in the adoption process. It is their job to ensure that each and every child that gets placed is going into a safe home. The process at times can be intrusive, which is why we value the compassion with which our social workers approach their responsibilities. We believe we have some of the best in the business!
